Under Derek Satnik’s visionary leadership, Mindscape has successfully won 13 awards since 2007 at all levels, municipal through international, for exemplary work in the green building and green energy markets. Mr. Satnik has received personal recognitions as the 2011 Executive of the Year in the field of Energy Engineering (by Cambridge Who’s Who), as the 2010 inaugural green building industry leader of the year (by the Canada Green Building Council's Toronto Chapter), as a 2010 finalist in Canada's "Hometown Hero" competition (by Earthday Canada), as the 2009 Net-Zero Energy Home Champion of the Year (by the Net-Zero Energy Home Coalition of North America), and as the 2008 Entrepreneur of the Year (by the KW Chamber of Commerce).
Mr. Satnik is versed in green building and renewable energy policy from his many board and committee seats at the
Ontario Sustainable Energy Association (OSEA),
Green Energy Act Alliance (GEAA),
Canada Green Building Council (CaGBC),
US Green Building Council (USGBC),
Canadian Residential Energy Services Network (CRESNET),

Mr. Satnik is an Electrical Engineer by trade, and has worked in the consulting industry in various roles since 1999, most notably with
Stantec Consulting Ltd., Enermodal Engineering Ltd,
and now Mindscape Innovations Group Inc. Mr. Satnik is a respected leader in Ontario’s and Canada’s green building and green energy sectors, with personal experience ranging from designing some of Canada’s most advanced green building projects, to a personal hand in authoring many of Canada’s leading green building programs (LEED, Built Green, Net-Zero, and many more) and Ontario’s Green Energy and Green Economy Act, and to implementing wind and solar projects of many sizes and flavours, from homes to co-ops to farms to commercial scale energy systems.
Mr. Satnik is directing Mindscape’s activities within the realms of “green” or “sustainable” design.
